DSP-based Image fire detection technology is a new fire detection technology based on image fire detection and combined with DSP technology. Fire detection system was structured which use dynamic video image sequence were processed by DSP-core microprocessor and combined with other hardwares, which is not only has the advantages of small size equipment and flexible application but also solve a series of problems such as crashes for no reason and operating system compatibility. Therefore, the development of image fire detection system based on DSP has great practical significance and application value.The principle and characteristic of image fire detection technology were summarized and the sharp angle, area variance rate, related coefficient, circularity, and other basic characteristics of fire image were researched, the simulation experiments of the fire detection algorithm were performed in the MATLAB environment, then, the sharp corners and circularity as discrimination condition were selected and the algorithms were translated into DSP code. On this foundation, image fire detection system development was completed by SSD-DM642 Ver2.0 evaluation board as the platform of development research. The Software was designed with a modular structure by use of top-down method which has a good scalability and was divided into four function modules of the main system control, video capture, image pre-processing and fire identification, then, each subprogram of functional module was coded. Finally, the interactive method that MATLAB code was translated into embedded C code were researched which provide a quick way for implement MATLAB code based on DSP and the foundation for embedded software development of image fire detection.
