As the information technology developed, the microwave and millimeter-wave circuits are requested to be higher performance, such as the better integration and the lower loss of the system. The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique preserve the advantages of the conventional waveguide, namely, high-Q factor and high power capacity. At the same time, the SIW structure also possess the advantages of the planner circuits which are easy to fabricate, low cost and easy to integrated. Possessing both the advantages of the conventional waveguide and the planner circuit, the SIW structure have been widely applied to design the microwave and millimeter-wave components.In this paper, the synthesis and design of the conventional filters are introduced firstly. Then, The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique including the transmission property, the transformation between the SIW structure and the microstrip, the SIW resonators and the coupling between the SIW resonators are studied. Chapter 4 introduced three designing procedures of the dual-band filters. Finally, based on the previous chapter, three dual-band filters which used the three design procedures respectively were designed and fabricated. The measurement results are found to be in good agreement with the simulation results. The method proposed in the paper is verified by this process.
