A Research On The War Coverage Of Al-Jazeera

Since the beginning of this century, Al-Jazeera Satellite TV Channel which lies in Qatar, a small country in the Middle East has been well-known by its unique war coverage, and leaps to the world's top TV media with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq waged by the United States. Al-Jazeera's rapid rise and obvious success has been recognized and affirmed. Meanwhile, it's the war coverage that was brought the success to Al-Jazeera, just like CNN had gained the world renown in the Gulf War which broke out in 1991. However, though Al-Jazeera and CNN has the similar successful model, they have a lot of different backgrounds as well, including national systems, geo-politics, religious, culture, and many other factors.This thesis focuses on Al-Jazeera war coverage themselves in Afghanistan War and Iraq War, describing and representing the road of fame and stories behind its success in the war coverage and comparing with CNN relative war coverage.Then, sums the characteristics from the angles of the contents of its coverage, the means of transmission and the inherent idea which represents in the war coverage. Finally, the thesis try to draw reference and enlightenment for China media from Al-Jazeera war coverage.
