Digital screening technology is the kernel technique of color image reproduction and color rendition, research on digital halftoning techniques has important pratical significance and application value for improving the quality of image reproduction. AM/FM halftoning can modulate the dot size and density at the same time. It can get more stability than FM halftoning through the formation of larger dot clusters. Meanwhile, the irregular dot placement can reduce the moire artifacts in AM halftoning.The paper focused on the parameter optimization design during the realization processing AM/FM halftoning and brings the principles of dynamic error diffusion into the screening algorithm, presenting the adaptive error diffusion algorithm based on the least mean square. Compared with standard error diffusion, the image using this algorithm has more explicit output and more continuous tones.
