Laser crystal absorbs the pumping light energy, produces fluorescence radiation and heat at same time. The heat non-uniform temperature causes in the crystal and causes thermal distortion of crystal. Thermal effect of the crystals seriously affects LD pumped solid state lasers'performance. In this paper, we study thermal distortion of the laser crystal by the theory of elasticity and numerical method. Then compare numerical solution with the solution from physical method. So LD pumped solid state lasers' performance can be improved on the basis of this research. The paper mainly has done work as follows:(1) Introduce the thermal elasticity theory and its applications in engineering and introduce the status of laser crystal'thermal effect.(2) Analyze the thermal distortion of slab laser crystal by using Thermal elasticity theory. The differential equations of elasticity are solved and its analytical solutions are got.(3) Numerically analyze the thermal distortion of slab laser crystal. And compare the result with the result from physics theory.
