The email has already got broad application as one kind of the high-effect network information exchange technology. Many government leaders send the secret information using email. This paper attempts to study the identity authentication issue of email system on the basis of a project "Research on Identity Authentication of Public Security Business System" of Gansu Provincial Committee of Science and Technology. The main research results of the paper can be concluded as follows:1.Analyze kinds of identity authentication schemes of email system at home and abroad, focusing on one-time password fingerprint recognition and PKI.2.Improve the two-way identity authentication sheme integrating one-time password and fingerprint recognition for email system.Using the digital fingerprint to check the integrality of identity information, storing the hash code of password to resolve the disclosing of password.3.Design a secure email system integrating One-Time Password and fingerprint recognition based on PKI, using One-Time Password and fingerprint recognition as authentication system of email system. Ensure information confidentiality, integrality and incontestability using RSA.4.Implement the two-way identity authentication system integrating one-time password and fingerprint of secure email system using Java, and the secure transmission of email system based on PKI.5.Analyze the security and performance of the system through experiment and test. Print out feasibility of system and its advantages in terms of security. And print out shortcomings in terms of performance and the need to improve.
