Cooperation And Competition: The Study Of Library Development Strategy

There are many crisis on the library development especially in the information and economic society. On one hand, the increasingly developed Information technology and the Internet is competing with the library on the resource, client, technique and the service which cause a lot of pressure on library. On the other hand, the library has shrinking space for development by the result of the prosperous Information Economics market as they brought great competitive to the library.Someone even proposed the conclusion as "library extinction theory" and "the shortage of library information resources theory" in the intense competition today, and they believe that libraries have developed into the dilemma. Library professionals are commonly concerned about the development of library. Now the rule of survival of the fittest still dominates everyone's development as well as the library, it is easily be eliminated if the one who has not participate in competition or has no competitive advantage. Facing with all aspects of competitive pressures, the library should break away from the shelter of public welfare system, and change the concept of conservative and complacent, and it should better enhance their own momentum by actively participating in social competition. For strategic thinking, the cooperative and competitive, as the most popular form of competition, has provides a new type of development ideas to the library. Being reflected by the use of co-opetition "cooperation, win-win" concept, the library can get the complementary advantages and enhance their own momentum by participating in competition.On the base of analyzing large number of documents,the author use documentary analysis and interdisciplinary studies method to overview the library development strategies, there are three parts to illustrate the solution on how to solve the problem,including whether it is able to be used,how to implement and how to develop its effect in a proper way on the theory of library co-petition strategies.The background analysis and the importance of using theory of co-competition on library. Main research contents are as follows: 1. The theory how to be expounded. The analysis of the background and significance of library's cooperative and competitive;2. The related summary of co-petition, including the meaning of cooperation and competition, features, basic concept, etc;3. Library foundation for the introduction of competing theoretical analysis of competing strategies, as well as the significance of the implementation in the library;4. Library division of competing systems, division based on the system to build a competing model and the corresponding competing strategies;5.
