Modern scientific computational softwares, for example finite element analysis software, often need to manage large scale data while running. Engineering database system ENGDBS provides functions of data management for scientific computation. While implementing. ENGDBS is devided into four layers, one of which is file layer. The objective of file layer is that files provided by ENGDBS file layer have no limitation on size. The design of file layer in this investigation uses concepts from file system in operating system, including file index structure and directory system. Details in design, implementation and tests of ENGDBS file layer are also presented. Test results show that the design of file layer is feasible and file layer is applicable to large scale data storage. |
