With the explosive increase in Internet traffic, there is an explosive growth trend of Internet traffic, the emergence of high performance optical network devices make wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology becomes the core technology of next generation backbone networks. RWA is an important issue in WDM networks. Based on many articles, a new dynamic algorithm based on the layered graph model called Multi-object Optimal Algorithm (MPOA) is proposed. A distinguished feature of MOA algorithm is that it employs more accurate network information than the existing algorithms on the availability of both the number of available wavelengths and the hops of the light-path in deciding the routing and the wavelength assignment. The detailed information per link is analyzed and the allocation of network resources is optimized under dynamic service traffic. Then this paper proposes a modified algorithm (GMOA) based on the MPOA algorithm. Simulation results show that the two algorithms perform better than other proposed algorithms. At last two different algorithms with partial wavelength conversion are introduced and their performance is also analyzed.
