With the characteristics of high efficiency, stability and configurability, Embedded Systems are widely used in various fields. In strong support of current multimedia technology and communication technology, the data transmission capacity of Embedded Systems has got a rapid development. Along with continually updated wireless communication technologies, the research on automatic monitoring system based on wireless transmission will be of broad prospects for development.Based on the discussion above, an automatic monitoring system for forest fire prevention is designed. This system captures images by cameras, and then automatically analyzes those images. In the event of exceptional circumstances, it will give an alarm to the administrator. By analyzing and summing up other scholars' forecast methods, this paper proposes a new method for fire prediction, that is, smoke will be detected during the day, and flame will be detected at night. This paper proposes two methods to extract the features of smoke and those of flame respectively: the method of smoke images'feature extraction based on wavelet transform, and the method of flame Images'feature extraction based on comparison of images. This paper adopts the method of RBF neural network to train and identify the fire images after the image's features are extracted and quantified, which proves a good recognition result. Here we build a streaming media servers based on B/S Architecture to satisfy the requirements of real-time monitoring. In this monitoring system, we have used Vimicro 301P camera for data acquisition, and ARM9 S3C2440 as the main control chip. Main functions and features of this system, as well innovation spots of this article are as follows:1. We designed the hardware circuit with serial communications, Ethernet module, data storage, and GPRS module based on the master chip S3C2440, all debugged successfully.2 The characteristics of smoke and flame are analyzed and researched, and a method to extract the features of smoke and those of flame respectively is proposed: the method of smoke images' feature extraction based on wavelet transform, and the method of flame images'feature extraction based on Comparison of Images.3 BOA(WEB server) and Spcaserv (streaming media server)were transplanted in this embedded system. And a GPRS module circuit was completely designed. Finally, a wireless remote streaming media server was established.
