The Research Of BI Management And Analysis Software's Testing Strategy

Testing is an important means which can ensure software quality. Although, there are other methods which can reduce software errors. But testing is most effective. That's the same for BI Management and Analysis Software (BIMAS).Now, there are many scholars researching the software testing and having acquired great achievement. Some testing technologies have been used activity and achieved good effect. BIMAS is developed from the traditional managing software. Therefore, traditional testing theory is fit for most of testing scenes of BIMAS.But, there are not specific testing theories which can instruct the testing of BIMAS's characteristic part.This paper researched the BIMAS and summarized the characteristics of it. Considering the encountered bugs of my testing process,this paper presents a software testing strategy for BIMAS.It's not confirming adopting which testing method until evaluating. So, this paper gives some standards for evaluating. And then, summarizes the automated testing points and manual testing points. Based on the divided functions, this paper provides strategy of staff configuration. Besides, how to confirm the numbers of testing cases for every testing point is also contained into this paper. For the choosing of automated testing tools, this paper's opinion is that both commercial tools and self-developed tools can be used for the automated testing.For the automated testing of BIMAS,this paper implements a GUI-oriented automated testing tool, which is named as BI_Teser. BI_Tester uses the thought about developing the controls and business logic separately. Besides, C# is the BI_Teser's and testing script's development language. Because of many BIMAS are based on the web, BI_Tester is also used for other web-based software testing. When connected to the page for testing, BI_Tester can automatically search these controls in the page and display them on the BI_Tester. Then, testers choose the control needed testing, the testing script and the directory where the testing results will be saved. After these, BI_Tester will run testing cases.So, BI_Tester must contain a testing library and a script library which are developed before the testing is started. The testing library encapsulates many controls.Of course, with the escalation of testing activities, the testing library will also contain other testing class.The testing script is only developed for each testing case. With the support of the two libraries, BI_Tester can run well.
