This paper makes a deep research on the OFDM symbol timing and carrier frequency synchronization technology in wireless MIMO-OFDM receiver under 3 GPP SCME channels.First, the development of MIMO-OFDM technology worldwide is introduced briefly, followed by the summarization of the basic idea and mathematical principles of wireless OFDM system, then the key techniques and advantages of MIMO system are discussed. With the aid of mathematical and communication theory, the influences of symbol timing, carrier frequency to MIMO-OFDM systems are analyzed in detail. In the study of TD-LTE system and traditional synchronization algorithms for MIMO-OFDM systems, improved slot timing and frequency synchronization algorithms with high efficiency are proposed based on specific frame structure in TD-LTE system, which show better performance than traditional algorithms in the SCME. All the algorithms proposed for TD-LTE system in this paper are simulated and compared sufficiently with Matlab. The simulation results show that the algorithms proposed are robust under frequency selective and time selective fading channels. Finally, taking the practical physical layer transmission control mechanisms into account, a total scheme is proposed to the whole architecture for the timing and frequency synchronization module in TD-LTE downlink system receiver.
