In recent years, "managing people, managing money and managing material" is no longer the core of management pattern of the hospital information system (HIS), they adopt "patient-centered" service mode instead. As the core of a digitalized hospital, electronic medical records (EMR) have drawn considerable medical attention. More and more hospitals are developing the EMR software based on their actual needs. With the sharp increase in the amount of EMR data, the significance of data mining is more and more obvious by reason that it can extract medical information and discover the medical law hiding in mass data, consequently providing scientific and accurate decision support for disease diagnosis and treatment, which is the important component of clinical researches.At the request of Endocrinology Department, the First Hospital of Nanjing, and Center for Diabetes Control and Prevention of Nanjing, the author constructed the diabetic EMR, designed and implemented the DataAnalysis and Management System based on diabetic EMR——DPIS. Functionalmodules in this project include EMR Input/ Edit/ Output Module, EMR Quality Control Module, Query, Analysis and Statistics of System Data Module, and Data Mining Module. DPIS has now been applied in clinical by the two units as it mentioned above, and received good feedback information after they used it. Furthermore, DPIS has been appreciated by the experts that joined the 11th Engineering Frontier featuring Digital Medicine Seminar. Additionally, it has also been used as teaching examples of EMR by the Medical School of Nanjing. (Writing to the author, DPIS has been adopted in clinical by Center for Diabetes Control and Prevention of Zhangjiagang).In this paper, related information about EMR, data mining and data mining of EMR has been studied. We analyze the feasibility of DPIS as well as the key technical difficulties to be solved to realize DPIS. The overall thoughts of design, including the selections of system platform and development tool, system design, system database design, security and reliability design, are all described in details. This paper also introduces detailed design solution of each functional module and the data mining process of EMR. I take part in DPIS's ahead of schedule,the general design and detailed design,and do a lot of work.In the background of the current diabetes research, combining the practical working conditions and habits of doctors, and linking theory with practice, this paper discusses the design and implementation of DPIS software, and presents data mining methods of diabetes databases. DPIS provides programmatic tools for collections of clinical data with diabetic patients, it still provides data for diabetes clinical research, which therefore improve the efficiency and quality of the medical and scientific research work, as well as provide decision support for diabetes diagnosis.
