In recently years, IEEE802.11 standard series of WLAN technology is growing rapidly, and some difficult problem was also emerged. One of them was the mobility and data fluctuation of wireless terminal caused the load of AP unbalanced. So the load balance technique were come up to reduce the difference of the AP's load and optimize the performance of wireless networks. The difficultly of the load balance technique are the judgment and collection of the load information. In WLAN, besides the volume of data, the need of the QoS is also a vital aspect, so judge the load of AP effectively is vital to the load distribution. Nevertheless, the collection of load information is also based to simpleness and facility in order to avoid the overfull spending. But the former research works either too roughness to judge the AP's load or collect information too complex. So, it's very necessary to continue the research in the field. The contribution of this article is four-fold. Firstly, The article has a deep investigation on the theory and the model of the WLAN, summarized the former load balance algorithm, and proposed a new WLAN load balance algorithm, when accessing the WLAN, the STA based on the judgement by the average probe time to choose the best AP to access. Secondly, we analysis the affect of the throughput of WLAN, and proposed the corresponding optimization scheme. Thirdly, aimed at the mobility and data fluctuation of the STA, this article also proposed a handoff load balancing algorithm, when the topology is already formed, the algorithm can redistribute the AP's load by the channel busy ratio and other information. Finally, the load balance optimization algorithm is deeply investigated. The experiment proved that, two kinds of the algorithm are effective and correct, and excel to the former works when the network is changeful and complex.
