The rapid development of wireless network makes wireless devices such as laptop computers, mobile phones, PDAs and the like, popular today. There are many differences between the development on the fixed computing system and the mobile computing system:mobile devices are likely to have scarce resources in terms of power, CPU capacity, memory and storage, and their performance is subject to context changes and time-varying network connections in a mobile distributed environment. These problems pose new challenges to the development of mobile applications. So middleware has been proposed to support the development of mobile applications. Traditionally Message oriented middleware (MOM) is an infrastructure of message passing on wired networks that supports communication among distributed heterogeneous platforms via message passing. MOM service for mobile computing have become of increasing concern. However, due to limitation of mobile device, re-using traditional MOM has to deal with problems arisen in mobile environments. And existing MOMs do not support data sharing, that they only simply replace messages of the same key, instead of reconciliation. This can not satisfy the requirement of data reusing. In this paper, we analyze Xmiddle data sharing algorithm, then propose a conflict resolving algorithm and design a mobile MOM framework in support of data sharing in a mobile computing environment. In our mobile MOM, XML-coded data are enveloped in messages, passed through a mobile host dynamically and asynchronously connected with MOMs executed on fixed hosts, then shared among a grouped mobile hosts by using replication and reconciliation over ad-hoc networks. Experimental results show our mobile MOM system enables transparent sharing of XML data across heterogeneous mobile hosts, allowing a level of fault-tolerance using message queues and data integrity using conflict resolution schemes.
