With the rapid development of mobile communications, the multi-hop relay network based on 802.16j has become a research hotspot in wireless communications. IEEE802.16 of the Executive Committee has established a special working group to develop multi-hop relay technical standards. Relay network is an economical, innovative programs to build the network, through puting the "multi-hop" technology into the existing cellular networks, it can shorten the communication between nodes of communication distance, improve the quality of communication link and channel capacity to effectively, and meet the next-generation mobile communications systems to a wide range of services within the coverage of high data rate requirements. This paper firstly studied the power consumption problem in the omni-directional antenna multi-hop network. According to the basic scenario relay network, it presented four kinds of multi-hop relay cellular network types, the distribution and the structure of the BS (Base Station) and RS (Relay Station) in the networks is definited and constrained. By using the wireless communication channel model and relay radio resource management model, it established a minimal power consumption model for the relay network, which is also to meet the requirements and the size of the area covered with mobile users within the region required for traffic density requirements. it also gives the minimum power consumption model simulation results and the smallest of four relay type of network power solutions, as well as the required minimum number of BS and the RS,by using the lingo and matlab simulation software analysis. On the basis of omni-directional antenna, the paper further study the directed antenna power consumption issues in a cellular network. it takes the WBTC (the wide-beam three sector cell) and NBTC (the narrow-beam three sector cell) for example, through the method similar to the omni-directional antennas, it finds the minimum power to be excellent WBTC in NBTC. The power consumed in directed antenna 49% lower than the minimum required in omni-directional antennas and the number RS required 27% less than which in the omni-directional antennas. The paper finally studies the throughput problem in the relay network and determines the effective relay area. It identifies the effective range of RS in the polar coordinates, and obtains the probability of RS which satisfies the Poisson distribution, by using the propagation model between BS, RS, and MS, and also combined with the Shannon formul,it determines the largest of each link transmission rate,it achieve maximum throughput by determining the best location and the RS slot allocation to meet the system requirements for all MS traffic, the throughput of relay network increases of 40% compared with there is no relay. In addition, the article also uses the ADS to simulate and analysis the channel under the assumption.
