Wireless sensor networks is a special wireless networks, for its nodes have sensing. computing and communication capabilities without depending on any fixed facilities. It is a new technology for receiving and processing information which is considered as the most important technologies in the 21st century and it has broad application prospects in many areas such as military, transportation, environmental monitoring and medical care, etc.Although the sensor nodes have an ability of resolving problem independently, the nodes of WSNs have smaller size, less capacity of power storage, limited capabilities of perception, processing and communication. Thus how to make the WSNs become more efficiently expandable, and robust is an important problem for the researchers. In this paper, the structured routing protocol for WSNs is proposed and the three structured P2P algorithms: Chord, CAN and Pastry are introduced into WSNs. The introduction of P2P technology for WSNs can shield the underlying differences of the networks, process the changes and heterogeneous access methods, so that sensor networks and their users can share more information, enjoy better services. The work of this paper includes:(1) Researching into the convex optimization theory. A local optimal value can be approximate the global optimal value according to the characteristics of convex functions. If each node has the latest optimal value u obtained by the state function, u is also the global optimal value. When a node sends u to all the other nodes of the sensor networks after its status changed and updated u, all the other nodes will update u accordingly so as to make every node of the WSNs in the equal position.(2) Based on existing routing protocols of WSNs, three typical structured routing protocols (Chord, Pastry, and CAN) in the wired P2P networks are studied and introduced into WSNs respectively. This paper resolved in how to determine which nodes are neighboring nodes and how to deal with the joining and leaving nodes in order to efficiently manage the sensor nodes and enhance the network performance.(3) Finally, the paper carried out lots of experiments for the above three structured P2P wireless sensor network by the network simulation environment NS2. The conclusion was given that the structured wireless sensor network applies to WSNs resulted from the network throughput, jitter and delay.
