Taking new method for analyzing on elastic deformation of linkages as the aim, this paper presented a new way based on CAD variance geometric method after analyzing the research status at home and abroad. The principle and application of this new method is described in detail.The first, this article gives the detailed introductions of the CAD variance geometric method and the technology of dimension constraint and geometric constraint, and also give choose and construction process of elastic model.The second, this paper deeply analyzes elastic deformation of the 2 and 3 degree-of-freedom plane serial linkages, the plane four-bar linkages, the plane five-bar mechanism, the 3 degree-of-freedom planar parallel mechanism and space serial manipulator based on CAD variance geometric method. It is presented the construction process of elastic model, and gives the example for every linkage. Application of finite-element-methods verified the effectiveness and suitability of the new method.Finally, taking the 2RP space serial linkages as example, application the CAD variance geometric method analysis the flexible link's section dimension influence on the mechanism.The results explain how important the main arm is to global stiffness.All the results of analysis verified that this new method is convenient and visual, and they are easy to obtain the elastic results. So, the CAD variance geometric method is suitable for solving elastic deformation of linkages.
