The application of virtual reality in battlefield environment simulation provided a new way to cognized the battlefield for commanders, the fidelity and precision of the virtual battlefield also has influence for commanders to cognize battlefield. Dynamic terrain can add the creditability of virtual battlefield. Using terrain properly may be impact the process or result of operation. At present, most of modeling methods of big-scale virtual terrain are like this: first building DEM from map data, then mapping the terrain texture, the fundamentally terrain has finished; next put the terrain objects that modeled anteriority on the terrain surface. This method of terrain modeling can satisfy the generic vision requestment, but also has many localization and shortage, such as change terrain is very difficult after terrain has modeled, the terrain and objects can't match commendably and drop the precision of simulation result. This paper designs a arithmetic of terrain Modification, this arithmetic takes the Delaunay TIN as terrain foundation, distilling the terrain objects character and takes the character as constrained lines, and insert the constrained lines in terrain, after this can match the terrain and terrain objects. If some terrain objects higher or lower than terrain surface, this arithmetic defines a terrain modification function, according this function changes the altitude of each terrain points. Add the number of terrain points if necessary, this makes terrain and terrain objects matching more smoothly.
