With the development of telecommunication industry, especially the issuance of 3G licenses this year, video business will play a more and more important role in multimedia field. It has been a work with practical significance to realize the decoding fuction which supports the newest video coding standard on mobile decices.As a new generation of high compression video coding standard, it can provide higher quality video in the Low-bandwidth network. And will need much less storage space to store more video data. H.264/AVC has achieved an excellent compression effect at the expense of computing complexity. However, it raises higher requirements for advanced hardware. So how to achieve better decoding performance with smaller hardware resources is now becoming a research hotspot.Considering its computational complexity, people always choose high performanceuse processors for it. The prevalent processor are ASIC (Application Special Integrated Circuit) or DSP (Digital Signal Process) to implement the H.264 Encoding/Decoding. With the development of technology, the ARM processors strengthen the fuction of digital signal process, it used higher frequently in the field of video encoding/decoding.Based on the embedded platform of Windows CE 5.0 and S3C2440A, the version of H.264 is t264-src-0.14. This thesis mainly includes the following parts:Finding the demands of hardware through annlysis of complexity of the H.264's strcture and decode.Customing corresponding embedded operate system on the platform of WINCE5.0 and ARM for the actual hardware.Transplantation of T264 video decoding library is complete on the WINCE5.0, designed a H.264 video player application with the decode library.Finally a satisfying experiment result is obtained, it is a effective way of decoding a file of H.264 on a single-core of ARM by software.
