Since Rijndael is finalized as Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in 2000, AES research has always been a hot spot. AES all aspects of the study was conducted to look forward to break AES. But there did not find a suitable method of attack threat AES complete. In recent years, there a new attack method was preposed called differential-algebraic attack which can attack block cipher. It is a kind of method which combinates differential analysis and algebraic attack.In this paper, the selecting process of AES, the status of the AES study and the design principle of AES are introduced in detail. Six attack methods of block cipher—strong attack, power analysis, differential analysis, linear analysis, Square attack and algebraic attack are introduced in detail in this paper. It is concluded there is no effective method of attack on AES and new ideas and methods of attack is needed to grub.Then the principle of differential-algebraic attack is introduced in detail. How to use the characteristics of AES for differential-algebraic attack is given in detail. And the way to find the differential charecteristics of AES and the analusis process of differential-algebraic attack on AES are given in detail.At last, the implement process of differential-algebraic attack on AES is given. And at 5 AES-256 differential-algebraic attack based on 6 give the process of the differential-algebraic attack on AES, the results more effective than the exhaustive attack. And on 5 and 6 the complexity of the attack, the signal-to-noise of the attack and the success rate of the attack are all given.
