Hardenability is one of the important properties in the heat treatment field for mechanical parts. But at present, the traditional way for obtaining hardenability information by inspecting the manual have been far from enough to meet the needs of actual production. At the same time, material databases have been established both domestic and foreign one after another. But it is regret that the hardenability data is hardly inspected in so many material databases, which greatly limited material hardenability resources'network sharing and real-time updates.Responsebly, based on network database technique, this paper established the structural steel hardenability database system. The realization of system is founded by B / S structure, in the Windows XP operating system platform, the dynamic web page programming ASP and the database management system SQLServer2000.Four module parts, including query module for hardenability basic knowledge, query module for structural steel hardenability data and other relevant data, prediction and forecast online module of materials'hardenability, prediction and forecast online module of steel parts'microstructure and performance after heat-treatment, have established in this system by modular design principle technique.Furthermore, in order to obtain perfect reliability of computer simulation, the numerical models have been improved and validated in this paper. On this way, the system can be achieved the steel properties and microstructure online and real-time forecasting performance.A great deal of materials'hardenability and other relevant data is collected and arranged. The hardenability query module online of basic knowledge and structural steels properties'data were so built.For more than 380 steel grades'end-quenching curves found in the literature, the numerical simulation model of hardenability-Yu Baihai's nonlinear equation method has been improved and verified. The results certified that the improving model has satisfied reliability. And then, an online prediction system for hardenability of different components'structural steel was developed. It is necessary for researcher to know that the three-dimensional distribution of different components and shapes steel parts'microstructure and hardness after heat-treatment. So the computer numerical simulation model is improved and established. The models include improving Maynier's microstructure and properties model and phase transformation critical parameter model by collecting empirical formula from relevant literature. The simulation results also agree very well with the experimental ones.The structural steel hardenability network database system could perform the functions such as learning knowledge, online inquerying materials'hardenability data and other properties data, online prediction for materials'hardenability and the three-dimensional distribution of different components and shapes steel parts'microstructure and hardness after heat-treatment, and so on.
