Virtual Reality (VR) employs a combination of technologies to create a virtual real-world, which could have an immersed sense on users in the virtual environment. And stereoscopic technology based on the vision has already been greatly employed in places of cinemas and other entertainments.Stereoscopic technology is provided with strong sense of stereo and immersion. However ,if having seen a three-dimensional film for a long time (more than 30 minutes), views are likely to feel visual fatigue, dizziness and other uncomfortable symptoms, which, to some extent, affects the popularity and development of stereoscopic technology. There are many causes, which lead to visual fatigue, such as the different performance of electrical equipment, the geometry of image skew, excessive parallax, and the unnatural decoupling of convergence and focus, which is the most significant and also could be improved. This paper is based on the discussion of stereology principles and factors to illustrate the principles and methods of stereoscopic technology, and the characteristics and disadvantages of stereoscopic technology which is based on binocular disparity, especially the disparity of convergence and adjustment Then through a variety of tests, a wide range of causes which can result in visual fatigue by 3D pictures and images are analyzed. Finally, the methods which can ease visual fatigue are proposed. In the experiment, a combination way of subjective and objective is used to the visual fatigue caused by 3D pictures and images, which make subjective and objective interaction, and have a better way to analyze the data, so as to obtain accurate data.
