The theory of complex network has already been applied in various areas such as technology engineering, social, political, medical and economic. It becomes an academic research heat spot in many disciplines. Although various disciplines have different researching directions, but they share certain research ideas and process in common. The aim of the thesis is to construct a system based on the standard research process refining from different areas to assist scientific researches. Network data model, visual analytics, service engineering are three critical factors in the system's construction and this thesis concentrates on these factors to make the research contribution as follows:1. Due to the numerous sort of network data and complex structure, this thesis presents a standard network data model to make refine common research processes and build software system assist various disciplines possible. In addition, the author proposed two powerful analytic operations (based on the model), of which mathematical foundations and application examples are also well demonstrated. The issue of lost information during the operations is illustrated in detail as well.2. Not only the variety of application areas, but also the ever-increasing data volume and user requirement make the performance of current database presentation technology look poor. To solve this problem, several issues of how to apply the visual analytics technology into mining system to aid network data analysis are thoroughly discussed, including visualizing the network operation we proposed and visualizing the network data with the result of various data analysis algorithms, such as network geometry eigenvalue computing or social structure detection.3. In the actual process of system development, we proposed to use a brand new software developing method: service engineering instead of software engineering to build the system, due to the reasons like the requirements are changeable, the application areas are too broad, the system structure is too complex, etc. The issues related to service engineering are also demonstrated in this part.In the end, the thesis presents a demo system to verify the conclusions, which are all supported by the National Key Technology R&D Program of China under Grant No.2006BAH03B05.
