Computer vision involves artificial intelligence, computer science, image processing, pattern recognition and many other interdisciplinary fields. Binocular stereo vision directly simulates the physical structure of human eyes, has choiceness characteristics such as small in size, low cost, little power consumption and high efficiency. Binocular stereo vision has broad application in the field of three-dimensional measurements. The research on binocular stereo vision has become one of the world's most popular research topics.This paper is focus on work piece's 3D reconstruction based on binocular stereo vision, it includes the research on image acquisition, camera calibration, image pre-treatment, stereo matching and 3D reconstruction.This paper's main works are as follows:1. Choose the camera by studying hardware principle of camera and making numbers of experiments. Design and produce a binocular vision test body, finally build an experimental system of binocular stereo vision.2. Make a high-precision calibration template by photo wash. Based on Jean-Yves Bouquet's camera calibration toolbox, present a method of two-step calibration which realize low-cost and high-precision calibration of binocular stereo vision system.3. A four-step images pre-treatment method is presented. It can restrain the noise and balance the brightness difference, also can enhance image edge and stress image details.4. Make a SIFT matching image template by researching algorithms of SIFT and making numbers of experiments. In the processing of stereo matching, combines both the epipolar constraint technique and the SIFT feature matching technique. The experimental result proves that higher effect and accuracy can be acquired in this method.5. Finally, using the experimental system of binocular stereo vision, conduct an experiment which includes following steps: images capturing, camera calibration, images pre-treatment, stereo matching and 3D reconstruction. Experimental results demonstrated the feasibility of work piece's 3D reconstruction by binocular stereo vision. It achieve the expected effect.
