Near-infrared spectroscopy (Near Infrared Spectroscopy, NIRS) is a fast and efficient modern analytical technique. It has obtained increasingly extensive applications in many field with its unique advantages, and will provide a new way for the development of pulp and paper process control. In this paper, it was measured the paper samples of different raw materials by using WQF-600N FTNIR application equipment. Also, it was used for data processing experiment and result analysis by using the special Near Infrared Spectroscopy Analysis (NIRSA) data-processing system combined with principal component analysis and cluster analysis. The results showed that it could roughly distinguish the complicated-multiple paper samples using NIRS, on the basis; it could implement subdivision in the same large class of different paper. It all exhibited the values of spectral absorption features and principal component characteristics belonging to the same class paper was consistent with gradient variation of different content ratio. It will have important directive significance to the establishment of qualitative and quantitative analysis models of paper quality detection by using NIRS in the future. This article finally summarizes deficiency of the research and accumulates preliminary experience. For further research in this direction, it has a certain reference function for expanding near infrared spectroscopy in the pulp and paper process control field.
