With the continuous progress of science and technology, the security of information has become increasingly important. Digital signature which based on public key cryptosystem plays a very important role in proving integrity, authentication, non-repudiation and so on. The security of elliptic curve cryptography is based on the difficulty of elliptic curve discrete logarithm. Comparing with other public key cryptosystems, elliptic curve cryptography has many merits, such as higher security, shorter key length, higher calculation efficiency, lower bandwide and so on. With the rapid development of Internet, E-mail is deeply received by numerous network users because of its convenient and swift features. However, how to ensure the security and confidentiality of E-mail delivery in the opening environment of Internet is an emergent problem. The application of elliptic curve digital signature on E-mail willl bring more convenient and safe assurance to people, and further promote the development of E-mail.Digital signature based on elliptic curve cryptography was deeply researched and analyzed in this paper. Firstly, researched the theoretical basis of the elliptic curve cryptography and digital signature technology, analyzed the security of elliptic curve cryptosystem by the commonly used attacks to the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem algorithms, also got the generation method for security elliptic curve and selection for base point. Secondly, according to the features of wireless network whose computational power is limited, improved the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm, verified the correctness and analyzed the security of improved algorithm. Inverse operation is the bottleneck of cryptography algorithm, there is no need for the signer of improved algorithm to do the inversion, so it has less time complexity than the traditional algorithm. Therefore, the improved algorithm has a certain practical value, and more suitable for wireless local area network when the signer has weak computing power. In this paper, Visual C++ 6.0 is the major development tool to implement the improved algorithm. The results showed that signature and verification of information were correct. Finally, did some useful explore and try according to the security problems in the process of E-mail delivery, proposed the idea of applying the elliptic curve digital signature technology to E-mail delivery in order to enhance the security. Combined the advantages of elliptic curve cryptography and the way of e-mail delivery, designed a set of scheme in which elliptic curve digital signature was used for digital signature and authentication in E-mail transmission.
