Wireless sensor networks (WSN) is a new research field in the Disciplines of Computer Science and Technology. It involves many related technologies, such as topology control, routing protocol, node localization, time synchronization and data integration. Particularly, routing protocols for wireless sensor networks has drawn the greatest attention among them. In addition, the study on mobile WSN has become one of the hottest spots in recent years. In this paper, it describes the current research on wireless sensor networks and summarizes the related research on the wireless sensor network routing protocol as well. In the fields of clustering routing and mobile WSN, some studies have been done as following: based on the in-depth analysis of existing cluster-based distributed routing protocol, the first study advances a new inter-cluster routing algorithm based on gateway(IRCG). Considering the node transmitting power can not adjustable, the Routing algorithm uses a single hop to intra-cluster communication, and for inter-cluster communication, it takes multi-hop way to communicate with the sink node through the cluster head and the gateway points elected to build the reverse aggregation tree. In this paper, the pseudo-code describes the algorithm and simulation analysis has been discussed. Secondly, this paper has explored the related research about a mobile wireless sensor network. The paper provides a new cluster-based routing algorithm (ECDAM)including fixed nodes and mobile nodes. At sub-cluster stage, the mobile nodes choose the nearest fixed-node and form cluster respectively. The corresponding fixed-node selects the cluster head, in terms of two parameters of the members: energy and the distance between the node and itself. In data transmission phase, cluster head is responsible for the collection and integration of sense information from its members. And then, the sense information will be sent to sink through the routing of the fixed nodes. Simulation results show that the cluster size, location are both uniform. Furthermore, the algorithm has a good performance on load balancing and extending the network life cycle.
