National Computer Rank Examination has been carried out for ten years, and the exam for testing computer-handling ability already can be marked automatically. But in Huizhou University the exam of the course, Basics of Computer Application, takes operating computer instead of writing paper as test way only for three years. It is still a trouble problem for teacher that he must generate topics and mark topics by hand.After reaserching a lot of literatures and studying the other examination systems, this thesis designs an examination system for one software of Office, EXCEL, including automatic setting topics, automatic checking papers, results statistics, whose main feature is as more automatic as possible in all aspects, by using which the teacher can lessen workload.In the aspect of setting topics, led by a Generating Topic Guide Window, the teacher first chooses a key knowlege point, then does the topic in a right way, at last gets the topic file. Every topic file is desiged as an EXCEL file, having a key knowlege point in the purpose to withdraw topics later. The setting topic system is very easy to operate, and it generates the topic file including the topic texts, the paper-checking codes, and the right results.In the aspect of test system, the operating window of the system collects all topic titles and put them into a topic button for the student to press. When a button is pressed, a topic file can be opened. After a topic file is saved, the score of it can be calculated as it has checking right-or-wrong codes, and the score can be written into the window.In the aspect of results statistics, the result file of one student in the same class is put into one directory. The results statistics system reads the information such as student number, name, score from every result file of the directory, and write the information to another EXCEL file.The system uses EXCEL+VBA as its development tool instead of VB+DATABASE. EXCEL file is not only a database, but also a place to save interim result. As all file types of this system is EXCEL, data and codes can be passed from one file to another.
