With the continuous development of Internet technology, the VoIP technology is gradually replacing the PSTN long-distance call business depending on the advantage of low rates. SIP, Session Initiation Protocol, was initially proposed by IETF as an IP phone signaling protocol. It has been playing an important role in many fields including VoIP, soft switch, NGN and 3G. SIP is a kind of signal protocol. It is independent of the application layer and to be able to achieve real-time communication. It is considered to be one of the most important protocols in NGN.Now, multi-faceted research and practical application of work are ongoing in the field of the SIP. So, it's important and necessary to study its implementation, security and efficiency. Under this situation, this thesis research on SIP and design the embedded SIP terminal are based on ARM9 in order to achieve the purpose of real-time voice communication. This task of the dissertation is as follows:Firstly, the basic principle of SIP, composition and function are introduced briefly. Then, the oSIP and eXosip of the open-source SIP protocol stack are analyzed.Secondly, according to the users' demand analysis, the dissertation choose the S3C2410, which is of ARM9 architecture, as the hardware platform. The dissertation ports the kernel image file of Linux 2.4 to S3C2410. And a SIP terminal based on eXosip protocol stack was designed by the C program code in the Linux OS.Thirdly, Testing and Analysis. The test results indicated that the embedded SIP terminal, which is based on oSIP protocol stack, can communicate with other products that support the SIP protocol and achieve the transmission of voice files in the LAN.Designed in this dissertation oSIP based on SIP protocol stack for embedded terminal, whether it is for theoretical research, or applied research, this dissertation has important practical significance.
