The automatic question and answer system(Question Answer System, is called QAS) is the high performance software system that is based on Internet, with the use of the natural language understanding to answer the regular questions raised by people. Course Question Answer Real-time System, CQARS, put the concept of QAS into education, helping to finish one of the most important part of distance education-Answering Question.CQARS not only can consumedly lighten the teacher's burden, but also can support the diversified study of the students and improve their study efficiency. The core technique of CQARS is based on the related technique of natural language understanding, including knowledge representation, the set up of knowledge database, the identification of question semantics, answer searching and so on. This paper summarizes part of the existed QAS and the technique of natural language understanding, and mainly focus on our new CQARS natural language understanding arithmetic, "Q-K" arithmetic. This paper also introduces the design and implementation of this system, in order to improve its efficiency and usability.The main works of this paper are as following:Firstly, research of sentence similarity and semantic identification.Secondly, research of extracting answer of question's semantic.Thirdly, design and implementation of system.
