Welding is an important production process. Automatic welding has become a main development direction in welding field, and researches on welding robot have important significance in improving welding automationBased on function-principle, different integrated schemes of special-purpose welding robot for welding box type parts and brake rim were analyzed and compared. The optimizing method of integrated schemes for this robot was researched. Structure design was made in the paper, and the swing function of the welding manipulator was mainly studied. It's a relative motion between welding torch and seam in welding process. Accuracy and stability of relative position between welding torch and seam decides the quality of welding. The cause of relative position error was discussed, then found a new reliable and practical way to get the information of seam track error.Permanent magnet with regular shape has symmetric magnetic field distribution, and symmetric-type groove is largely used in steel plate welding. So in this paper, the interaction between permanent magnet and symmetric groove was researched, and developed a new type seam tracing sensor with a permanent magnet probe, and realized the non-contact and reliable seam tracing. The new application of permanent magnet extended a new method of seam tracing, and put forward new research on permanent magnet. The way of synchronization tracking was preliminary studied.The research on special-purpose welding robots and seam tracking sensor can improve the popularization of automation in welding. We can develop new methods with practical use by the research.
