With the rapid development of pavement traffic industry, the pavement cracks disease prevention and treatment is seted great attention by the maintenance department. Traditional method based on the visual inspection has become increasingly can not meet the requirements of highway development, and automatically pavement cracks detection based on image processing technology started to be focus by people. Although the techniques of detecting pavement cracks have made great progress, digital image processing algorithms are still a difficult point in the study.This article is main research about the software of automatically pavement cracks detection system. The article first introduces the development of the automatic pavement cracks detection system at home and abroad, and gives the classification of pavement cracks, then, focuses on the road-related image processing algorithms of the automatic pavement cracks detection, including cracks in image enhancement, image segmentation, cracks feature extraction, as well as crack type classification and crack parameters estimation.Digital image processing techniques are the center of the system and are also the key content of the research. This article review the existing digital image processing technology of the automatic pavement cracks detection first, and choose the appropriate image processing algorithms by comparing the characteristics of a variety of algorithms, main a better image processing results at last, provide a reliable guarantee for the crack type classification and crack parameters estimation. In this paper, we smooth the crack image by median filter, and remove noise of cracks image effectively. Iterative threshold segmentation method is used to automatically acquire image crack threshold, and switch a cracks image into a binary image better.Extraction of crack parameters is the main purpose of the system design. Mainly include the crack type classification, as well as length, area calculations. System uses a threshold method, in accordance with the number of connected regions compared with the threshold value, classified linear cracks and block cracking first of all; then classify transverse cracking and longitudinal cracking in the linear cracks by the method of projection: This method solves the large shortcomings of projection well. Experimental results show that the crack parameter extraction method can achieve good conservation of the road construction requirements.
