Various ferrite dual-mode waveguide devices are applied in modern radar system. They have the most developing potential value in all ferrite devices. Many of them such as dual-mode phase shifter, circularly polarized phase shifter, rotary-field phase shifter, dual-mode variable polarizer have been widely applied in kinds of radar system. Others such as variably polarized phase shifter and full polarizer can be applied in several new radar systems. Each of above is comprised of a number of dual-mode ferrite waveguides cascaded, which is formed by all types of combination. According to different methods magnetized, there are quadripole magnetic field, dipole magnetic field, longitudinal magnetic field, and their compound field, of which divided into various basic ferrite section.Up to now the design of these devices mostly based on experience and some basic formula under the condition of single uniform magnetization. The difference between theory and practice is distinct. And the design can not be coincided with electromagnetic simulating result. So it is need to study the gyro-magnetic effect of ferrite dual-mode waveguide devices. Using it and combining it with electromagnetic simulating result we can design new ferrite waveguide devices quickly and reasonably.First of all this article discussed the operating principle of gyro-magneticferrite material. It summarized two classical analytical methods----weakmagnetized disturb analytical method and couple wave analytical method. Next this article brought forward a new analytical method using general perturbation field theory through introducing the concept of perturbation field. Using ANSOFT-HFSS 3DMAX field simulation software it analyzed many types of dual-mode gyro-magnetic waveguide device. basing on this, it further analyzed several phase-shifts of ferrite dual-mode waveguide devices. Finallyit deeply analyzed a new type device----variably polarized phased shiftercombined with task investigation. The solution proved that theory and practice coincided with each other.
