Along with the computer vision technology's development, the stereoscopic vision binocular vision widely is applied particularly in domains and so on object recognition, virtual reality, industry examination, robot guidance and aerospace. The camera demarcation is one in stereoscopic vision key technologies, whether to solve this question serious influence stereoscopic vision development effectively.This paper introduces the application of binocular ranging in the method of automatic driving possibly by equipping certain vehicles with a pair of cameras to simulate human eyes. During the implementing process, I built a certain camera model corresponding to its physical principle, in which I also considered radial distortion and tangential distortion. This paper focuses on the components of binocular stereo vision: camera calibration and the epipolar correction with deep resumption. And then I adopt the traditional calibration method to calibrate the cameras and calculated the corresponding intrinsic and extrinsic parameters, and also the transformation matrix and rotation matrix which can be used to mapping one camera coordinate to the other. Finally, I corrected the epipolar of the stereo image pairs using the parameters calculated, which can be used to get the depth map.Recognizing and locating the internal corners of a planar checkerboard pattern image is very important in camera calibration. While doing the calibration, I used an image of a certain chessboard as calibration pattern. And also I realized a method to automatically extract the corners, which improved the precision of calibration and made it very convenient for the whole process.
