With the popularity of digital education, there is a large number of e-learning supporting software in the internet. However because the software uses different software development platforms, development languages and databases, the difficulty of integration between them is increased greatly. The emergence of Web services makes applications can integrate with each other across different platforms and provides a feasible solution for integration of heterogeneous E-learning supporting software. We can build new E-learning supporting environment quickly by composing the existing services in a certain logical order. However, at present the existing approaches of service composition are lack of the service semantic information, so the computer can not understand the services well. On the other hand, they compose the services from the view of the functional information of services, and ignore the non-functional information of services. Therefore, there are no effective approaches of service composition. This paper proposes an ontology-based E-learning oriented Web service composition model. It can realize an ontology-based service composition approach for integrating E-learning software. It can automatically match, discovery, compose and invoke Web services, and integrate E-learning supporting software effectively. In this paper, according to semantic Web and Web services technology, we propose an ontology-based service composition approach for integrating e-learning software. This approach can compose the optimal service which meets the consumer's requirement. It describes the semantic information of services according to the E-learning domain ontology database. Then it uses the reasoning mechanisms to mining the relationship between services. In order to describe the non-functional information of services, we expand the traditional service description language OWL-S with QoS as non-functional description. So through considering the functional and non-functional requirements of services together, we can get the most optimal sequence of services. In the process of composition, it is a complex process of building ontology database. According to the requirement of service composition, we propose the approach of E-learning standards based E-learning domain ontology building method. At the same time, we also provide the self-learning ability to ontology library so that it can be improved continuously.
