Cervical smear screening used for the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer was considered one of the most important achievements; this technology used from the 1840s plays an important role in reducing the mortality rate of cervical cancer. Prior to the 1980s of the last century,all of smear examinations must be approved by the naked eye under the microscope. This method makes the examination results depending on the impact of such factors as the cytotechnologist professional checking experience,personal habits,the mental state,eye fatigue,the extent of lesions. It was reported that the false-negative rate of this method is 50%. Because of the high false-negative rate,the conventional Pap smear is subject to severe restrictions. Therefore,it is urgent to reduce and avoid false negative.CCASS (Cervical Cytology Assistant Screening System) amplifies the cervical smear loaded under the microscope. Pathologists can directly examine cell morphology on the monitor,so that this system can help to reduce eye fatigue.The software of CCASS can file the patient infomation,and can process the enlarged cervical cells image; it can realize the image mosaicing,so that the doctor can examine the cell in perspective. These thereby minimize the work load and improve the quality and efficiency of the observation.
