In this paper, a laser-pen-track recognition system is designed and used in practice in teaching. It is implemented to provide a more convenient way in teaching and improve learning quality and efficiency. This topic is one part of Standard Natural Classroom(SNC) in our E-Learning Lab. Nowadays, systematization of distance learning is one of the hot points in the area of smart classroom. It focuses on the teacher and is based on the"blackboard"in the classroom. The teacher usually walks down the dais to express some state or request. He wants to use some tool to indicate or operate on the screen, such as a laser pen. There exists some distance indication tools which lack of operation functions. In this situation, this topic wants to develop a complete system with those functions and provide a freer teaching and learning scene.Work in this paper includes:1) Design and deploy of laser-pen-track recognition system. This system is deployed in a teaching and learning scene. It takes advantage of video capture devices and gets the information of projection screen or so. It also needs to analyze light point position and implement track recognition and optimization based on a series of light points. Meanwhile, it provides some practical functions to improve the entire system. In this paper, hardware design and deployment is also brought forward, which makes the entire system practical and innovative.2) Research and implementation of light point recognition algorithm. In this paper, kinds of light point or region recognition algorithms are referred. The system combines self characteristics and extracts useful techniques from others so as to find a way to solve the problem. A simplified way that scan once per pixel is used in this paper, which may reduce or even avoid complex computation. It is more important that it can fit into different kinds of background situations.3) Research and function implementation of track recognition and optimization. It aims at putting those recognition techniques into distance indications. A complete track recognition mechanism in this system includes digit and letter recognition, and also special gesture recognition. In track optimization, this paper discusses about the further improvement to the result of track recognition, and the visual effect optimization.According to the design of the entire system and the research on related key technologies, this paper has completely achieved an assistant system on teaching and learning, which has been put into use in Standard Natural Classroom.
