Database system usually stores important information, and also is the foundation and core of information system and application system.Today, the volume of data and business is always growing and the system is running continuously. In order to adapt to these, high availability cluster technology is appearing. However, how to provide high availability and high performance for database with high availability cluster has become an important topic. This thesis researches the structure of Oracle RAC database first.Analyze the architecture of Oracle RAC,and give an in-depth analysis and comparison from the memory structure and concurrency control between traditional single-instance database and RAC.Also give an analysis about cache fusion of RAC.Based on an existing theory and technology, the thesis researches cache optimization methods of Oracle RAC database deeply through comparing with single-instance database. Then analyze the similarities and differences of optimization methods for shared pool and buffer cache between RAC and single-instance database. For the feature of cache fusion in RAC,design an optimization implementary schema using Service. Finally, set up the environment for experimental with virtual machine, using database software Oracle 10g.And design a student information querying system to do three sets of simulation experiments.First of all, test the performance by the concurrent effects of the volume for RAC and single-instance database system. Then test the performance of RAC and single-instance database system with same optimization methods. At last test the performance of RAC with the optimization methods of using Services.
