To be one of the widely used optical fiber sensors, optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor has a long using history and mature technology. As one of the important branch of research on fiber sensor, optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor has much advantages, such as simple structure, high measure precision, wide measure rage and so on, which offer it a broad prospects and great potential for sensing applications, especially for strain measurements in health monitoring of civil engineering structure, aerospace devices, high building, long span bridge, et cl.. in this thesis, we have a systematic and thorough discuss to this kind of strain sensor, including the principle, the manufacture and the measure of strain:(1) Introduce the importance of strain measure, the development of optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor at home and abroad. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of variety of strain sensors, especially the optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor and its use in structural healthy morning.(2) Discuss the work principle of optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor and its strain-stress effect.(3) By using wet-etching and fusion method, we manufacture a kind of low-reflectivity, ministructure optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor. In order to improve the success rate of the optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor, we change the different parameters in the process of produce, and make this kind of sensor suitable to measure the outside strain.(4) We use the AQ4321D modified laser to be the source of light. The reflected signal light which is modified by the change of outside parameter has been detected by the ANDO AQ6317C, after analysing the change of interference light, we can get the information of the parameters. The results of good linearity, high sensitivity and repeatability have proved that this kind of strain sensor is suitable to measure the change of strain in environment.(5) Indicate the future development and the aspects in the manufacture of this optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor which needs to be improved.
