Geographical information system(GIS) is an edge technology integrated with various disciplines,namely, computer science,geography,remote sensing,surveying and mapping,urban planning,land management,urban construction, etc.. Collecting, editing, storing, managing, analyzing, and displaying geographical data constitute the application of GIS. Geospatial data, as the blood of GIS application system, is crucial to the application. Therefore, data construction plays a significant role in GIS application.A geospatial data production software model editing system—POI(point of interest) has been designed according to the particularity of geospatial data production. Based on an exhaustive analysis of the geospatial data production procedures, a model of this procedure has come out, which has various functions, including data inputting, storing, checking, statistics and exporting, whose accuracy as well as comprehensiveness is guaranteed by the standardized management and track toward each procedure in the geospatial data production.The System has adopted a three- tier C/S structure in design, dividing the entire system into data services layer, service logic layer and the layer of application expression, enabling the logical independence of each layer, guaranteeing a high degree of cohesion and a low degree of coupling. In realization the system, the idea of object-oriented is adopted. With the application of new technology, each layer is encapsulated into extendable interface class, which not only ensures the usability, but also facilitates the maintenance and function enlargement of the software.On the basis of exploring the format of MIF (MapInfo Interchange File) / MID files, the system has realized the function of exporting the POI data stored in data server in the format of the versatile MIF/MID, ensuring the practicability of the data.A normative POI data production flow has been provided for GIS software manufactures through the application of POI editing system, while at the time,offering solution plan for producing geospatial data characterized by high efficiency as well as accuracy.
