With the development of micro-electronics,computing and communication, communication cell and storage can be integrated into a piece of coin-like circuit wafer to form a cheap sensor node.A wireless sensor network(WSN) is a wireless network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions,such as temperature,sound,vibration, pressure,motion or pollutants in different locations,then user can query information through it.WSNs provides a useful method for user to acquire objective world,and it is a data-centric network,so most of queries are spatio-temporal queries.Because of sensors in WSNs is supplied by battery,the WSNs have limited communicating ability and energy. Therefore,energy-efficient spatio-temporal query processing algorithm is a very important research problem in the data management of wireless sensor networks.According to these research points,this paper does some useful investigation and the major contributions of this thesis are stated as follows:(1)This paper summarizes the present spatio-temporal query processing alogrithms for wireless sensor network and proposes a new spatio-temporal query processing algorithm EASTA based on these algorithms.Analysis of the prove on EASTA in theory shows that EASTA has better enegry-efficient than the present spatio-temporal alogrithm.(2)Under the STWin frame,through choosing different parameters,analysis of the performance between some classic spatio-temporal query processing algorithms and new algorithm EASTA shows that EASTA has better performance.(3)The new algorithm is implemented based on the SwissQM—an Open Source WSNs DBMS prototype.Through extending this system with the new algorithm and with extended query language(E-SQL),user can propose spatio-temporal query and receive the result processed by the underlying system and the extended sub-system.To conclude,this paper analyzes current research of spatio-temporal query in WSNs and proposes a new algorithm EASTA.This algorithm is proved energy-efficient by theoretical analysis and has been applied in the WSNs DBMS open source project—SwissQM.Practice shows that new algorithm has better performance about spatio-temporal data processing,energy efficient and it is serviceable.
