The 21st century is the information age, the information has become the important strategic resources of the social development, the informationization society has become the tidal current and the core of the current society development , the information security will play the extremely important role in the information society, it related the national security, the enterprise management and people's daily life directly.This paper first reviewed the cryptography of the emergence and the development of history, briefly introduces the original sequence of the basic principles of the password; and provides an overview of the design of stream cipher systems theory approach; and then introduces a shift register and shift register sequence, focuses on the linear feedback shift register of said linear shift register sequence periodicity, sequence space, minimal polynomial, B-M algorithm and the linear complexity of sequences; a new design of the feedback shift register is presented. Key-space, randomicity, sensitivity, and complexity are analysed. At last image encryption algorithm based on the binary sequences generated by this design is proposed, which shuffles the positions and changes the grey values of the image pixels, subsequently, we finish the emulational experiments and security analyses, which indicate that this encryption system has a favorable cryptological characters, such as large key-space, a quite good sensitivity to the secret key and the original image, resistibility of statistical and difference attack.
