The Research Of Criminal Network Analysis Based On Fuzzy Set Theory

Concern about national security has increased significantly since the tragic events of September 11,2001.Crime data has aroused the attention of many state security departments.The goal of crime data analysis is to provide effective information to law enforcement departments and intelligence agencies in crime investigation and prevention.At present,many crimes from drug trafficking,fraud to robbery and other terrorist attack are conducted by groups and the law enforcement agencies and intelligence-gathering departments aware that finding out the network structure of criminal gang is very important to the research of the criminal investigation and prevention.For this problem,researchers proposed using the methods of social network analysis to build and analysis criminal gang,that is,criminal network analysis.At present,the research of criminal network analysis is mainly carried out based on the classical set theory which can only express the exact concept.But,objective things mostly have ambiguous class attribute,for example,the members of criminal gang who are in charge of communicating two or more criminal sub-groups.Considering the objective characteristics of individual members of criminal networks,in this paper we discuss the method of criminal network analysis based on fuzzy set theory.First,we introduce criminal network analysis technology and interrelated data mining technology.Then we propose a hierarchical clustering method based on fuzzy set theory through combination of fuzzy processing technology and hierarchical clustering method.This new method can find the members who have ambiguous class attribute when partitioning the network.Based on the results of the fuzzy hierarchical clustering algorithm,we also improve the algorithm which is used to search the core members of criminal gang,and then analysis the criminal network used the methods of social network analysis.The two methods are validated by "9.11" dataset.Finally we summarize the thesis and present on future work.
