The phenomenon of pulse shortening limits the energy enhancing of microwave pulse although power is increasing,which restrict the development of high-power microwave sources and accelerator.One of the main reasons of pulse shortening is multipactor.Multipactor is an avalanche effect caused by a large number of secondary electrons in interaction cavity or radio frequency(RF) window,and the secondary electrons appear when source electrons impact the metal surface.This paper analyzes the physical mechanism of multipactor basing the theory of wave-beam interaction in micro-wave devices and presents two models of two-surfaces and one-surface.After analyzing and calculating the susceptibility curve and the secondary electron evolution, measures of reducing and inhibiting multipactor discharge are proposed.
