Properties Analysis And Arithmetic Study Of Principal Curves

Principal curves emphasized on finding self-consistent smooth curves that pass through the middle of a multidimensional data set . It is an effective feature extraction tool and is applied in various fields including image processing and speech recognition.This paper introduced the foundation of the theories and several typical definition forms about Principal curves, and particularly explained the polygonal line algorithm to estimate K principal curves based on data sets comparing with HS algorithm and BR algorithm. This paper studied the applications of 2-d polygonal line algorithm in 3-d space and designed 3-d polygonal line algorithm to structure space surface. According to the experimental results, it is a good method to structure surface.
