Road surface cracks are one of the most common road structural damages; they not only cause aesthetic impacts, but also cause impacts of road traffic safety and life of the road. It has very important theoretical and practical significance to research and design a surface crack detection technology, and to develop efficient, rapid and accurate identification of cracks in the road system. Although based on digital image processing techniques to identify cracks in the road has been developed abroad, but due to the complexity of the road image, digital image processing algorithms are still studying. This paper has studied road surface cracks detection system based on the MIL software, developed the image sampling system of road surface cracks detection system, studied image processing algorithm of road surface cracks recognition, which includes enhancing crack images, segmenting crack images, edge detection of cracks.This paper has simply introduced the existing problems, the status quo and development trend of the crack detection system home and abroad at first, then raised the problems which needs to be studied and the detection technology which needs to be developed.Through the analysis of needs in the road surface cracks detection and understanding of structures of similar crack detection system at home and abroad, We selected hardware systems and structures of hardware systems following the system requirements. We has raised hardware structure, working principle and system functions of the road surface cracks detection system based on the line array camera technology.The microcontroller-based control system has been designed, triggered by the cameras outside the trigger to achieve control of the camera images taken in real-time control to meet the system requirements.The developing of image sampling system is the key of this system, the image sampling system based on the MIL software has been designed, which includes the real-time display of images, the receive of GPS signals and the design of database. This system can save road surface crack image to the hardware of computer completely, which can used in the later image processing. The detect has suggested that this sampling system can sample road surface crack image information effective, and achieved good image effect, meet the design requirements.The crack image processing includes enhancing crack images, segmenting crack images and edge detection of cracks. This paper use the Wiener filter methods, which can smooth the image background, filter most noise. In the segmentation of images, through the model of image segment, compared the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional and classical segment methods, we used Otsu law threshold segmentation to segment background with targets. The edge detection can detect image cracks; we used Laplace edge detection to achieve better effect. The detection has suggested that the method raised can detect the cracks effective, the parameters of image cracks can be calculated accurately.
