The UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) microstrip antenna and power amplifier are the key components of UWB transmitting system in wireless communications, the elementary study and design are investigated in this paper.First, the development of key technologies in wireless communication and UWB technology are introduced in this paper. Then, the microstrip characteristics are studied. By linking transmission line theory and cavity model theory and with the help of slot effect of microstrip patch antenna, this paper gives out the structure and size of UWB antenna, and still, it deals with the relative characteristics of the antenna. In the following parts, the requirement of UWB antennas and the model structure of UWB antenna are studyed. Next, the stability, power gain, noise characteristics and traveling waves (distributed) circuit structure of power amplifier are analyzed. This paper gives out the design of the UWB microstrip antenna and the UWB PA, and provides the structures of them. For the design of the proposed UWB antennas, this paper mainly adopts wide-slot structure to achieve the design requirements; For the design of the proposed PA, in order to achieve the UWB frequency band and improve the VSWR, the traveling waves (distributed) circuit structure is adopted.In conclusion, the analyzing and design of the UWB microstrip antenna and the UWB power amplifier which are the key components in UWB wireless communication are elementarily discussed, the theory and calculated results are given out.
