In digital burst communication systems, time dispersion and overlap are introduced by high speed data transmission over the bandwidth limited channel, which leads to intersymbol interference (ISI). How to reduce ISI is of important academic significance, furthermore, it will improve the communication quality in digital mobile communications and have far-reaching influence. The techniques of resisting multipath on burst communication systems are discussed in this paper.First, linear equalization based on LMS and RLS algorithm are studied for their tracking capability and noise immunity under time-varying channels. Fractionally spaced equalizer (FSE) which has better capability than symbol spaced equalizer is studied. Secondly, fractionally spaced decision feedback equalizer via channel identification algorithm is investigated with significantly improved performance compared with the recursive algorithm based on LS criterion and symbol spaced decision feedback equalizer via channel identification, and has low complexity. Last, turbo equalization based on joint iterative equalization and decoding is investigated, the performance of MAP/MAP and MMSE/SOVA algorithms are compared.
