Acoustic vector sensor is composed by traditional omni directional pressure sensor and dipole directionalparticle velocity sensor, which simultaneously and colocately measures orthogonal components of particle velocity as wellas pressure at single point in space. This thesis applies vector hydrophone in the study of underwater acoustic (UWA) channel character. It develops a new method of correlation algorithm, which is used in distinguishing the multipath in UWA channel, by combining the traditional correlation algorithm with spatial beam-forming. The algorithm integrate the temporal processing gain with spatial processing gain, which are provided by correlation algorithm and vector sensor respectively, to enhance the resolution of multipath delay. The applying of this method to the processing of data, which are acquired at Song Hua Lake, Zhou Shan Archipelago and Channel-pool of Harbin Engineering University, proves that it is correct.
